Canada Day in ICE District

June 19, 2023 (Edmonton, AB) – OEG Sports & Entertainment announced today that ICE District will be hosting its second-annual free Canada Day celebration on July 1, headlined by Canadian country music star Tim Hicks and also featuring Nice Horse and Taylor-Rae.

ICE District Plaza and Fan Park @ ICE District will be transformed into a celebration of the best country on the planet with fun for all ages. Fan Park @ ICE District will have drop-in basketball, pickleball and street hockey for everyone to participate in, as well as snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments. ICE District Plaza will feature music, games, inflatables, photo booths, face painting, performers for kids of all ages, the city’s best food trucks, non-alcoholic refreshments and adult beverages. Tim Hicks, Nice Horse and Taylor-Rae are set to perform on the main stage in ICE District Plaza, starting at 5 PM.

The Canada Day festivities will begin at 3:00 PM and conclude at 10 PM, with enough time for attendees to take in the firework display over the central River Valley at 11 PM. Admission to the Canada Day celebrations in ICE District Plaza and Fan Park @ ICE District is free of charge and does not require tickets.

Canadian singer-songwriter Tim Hicks is set to headline Canada Day in the Plaza. Hicks has released many highly praised albums throughout his career including Throw Down, 5:01, 5:01+, Shake These Walls, New Tattoo, Wreck This, Campfire Troubadour and Talk To Time. He has been nominated for five JUNO Awards, won a CCMA Award, has four-platinum selling singles and has garnered eighteen Top 10 radio hits. Hicks has over 100 million collective streams and has sold out back-to-back national tours. Some of his best-selling hits include ‘Hell Raisin Good Time,’ ‘Stompin’ Ground,’ ‘Stronger Beer’ and ‘Here Comes the Thunder.’ Hicks’ brand-new album Campfire Troubadour, Vol 2 was released on June 2 and is available on Apple Music, Spotify and other streaming platforms.

This year’s Canada Day celebration will also feature two-time CCMA winner, Nice Horse. Nice Horse has released one studio album titled There Goes the Neighbourhood and continues to perform at high-profile festivals across the nation. Joining them is Canadian country singer Taylor-Rae, whose breakout single ‘Are You Still Up’ has received almost two million streams across platforms.
