Chiseled – Edmonton’s Ice Carving Exhibition Returns to ICE District Plaza
January 15–17, 2026 | Live Carving: January 15–17

EDMONTON, AB — Activate Arts Alberta, formerly known as the Ice on Whyte Festival Society, is pleased to announce the return of Chiseled – Edmonton’s Ice Carving Exhibition, taking place January 15–17, 2026, in the ICE District Plaza.
From January 15 to 17, ten elite ice carvers from across Canada will transform massive blocks of crystal- clear ice into monumental works of art. Each sculpture is built from 15 large ice blocks, creating international-scale pieces that are only seen in a few places in Canada. Carving will take place daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., weather permitting, and the public is invited to watch the artists use chainsaws, chisels, and other specialized tools to create these magnificent pieces of art. The process is dramatic, and mesmerizing, offering a rare behind-the-scenes look at this incredible winter art form.
Once completed, the finished sculptures will remain on display in the ICE District Plaza for public viewing until weather conditions reclaim them. Visitors are encouraged to return throughout the exhibition to see how the sculptures evolve over time.
Chiseled also features a People’s Choice Award, allowing the public to vote for their favourite sculpture and directly support the participating artists.
Chiseled is one of only a few events in Canada that produces ice sculptures of this size and calibre, reinforcing Edmonton’s reputation as a premier winter city and a destination for outdoor public art.
